Ethylmalonic acid
Ethylmalonic acid
Explanation: Ethylmalonic acid is produced during fat metabolism. In healthy individuals, this substance is present in very small amounts and is efficiently processed. However, in certain inherited metabolic disorders, such as short chain acyl Co-A dehydrogenase (SCAD) deficiency or glutaric acidemia type II (GA2), this compound can accumulate, leading to health issues.
Test Purpose: Detect rare inherited metabolic disorders such as short-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency or glutaric acidemia type II (GA2)
