Explanation: Formiminoglutamate (FIGLU) is a compound that forms during the breakdown of the amino acid histidine in the body. Deficiencies in folate (vitamin B9) can cause FIGLU to accumulate. The FIGLU blood test can help detect liver disease or failure, as well as deficiencies in vitamin B12 and folate.
